How Important is a Strong Core?

Core strength is the foundation for all your movement - whether you are novice or experienced runner.  Overall core strength allows important muscle groups to work together in a cohesive way.  A strong core can boost your speed, efficiency on uphills, help you avoid injury on downhills, strengthen endurance and improvement lateral movement on trail runs.

Class Components

Core Strength for RunnersFleet Feet's quarterly four-week program, educates runners on the importance of strength and control of the glute, abdominal and hip muscles that constitute the core.  Each class will begin with a discussion of target muscle groups and how those muscles relate directly to running. Participants will learn key exercises to engage the core that can be incorporated into their personal training and workout routines.  Our program coach uses the newly introduced exercises for a great in-class workout as well.

Maximum class size - 15 participants.  Exercise mat required.

Spring Session

  • Now a 6 Week Program!  All classes will be held on Saturdays from 7-7:45am at Fleet Feet Sports.  Classes are scheduled for:  APRIL 1, 8, 15, 29, May 6 and 13 (no class on April 22)

Program Start: Summer Core Date To Be Announced
Program Schedule: 6-Week
Program Fee: $90
Description: Extended to six weeks, this class concentrates on strengthening your lower back, hips, glutes and all the essential muscles of your core. A strong core encourages more efficient running form and fluid movement. The class offers brief descriptions of muscle groups, how they benefit from each movement followed by a complete core workout. 45-minute class; exercise mat is required. Class size is limited to 15 participants.
